Hi, dolls.

Welcome to The Blockchain Barbie. Your (actually helpful!) resource to all things blockchain technology.

If you’re new, start with the Blockchain Guide for (not so) Dumb Blondes. Time to hop on the blockchain train, sweetie!

Blockchain Predictions - The Roaring Twenties

Blockchain Predictions - The Roaring Twenties

Happy New Year, (barbie) dolls! As we enter a new decade, it’s a time for change, growth, resolutions, predictions, and a whole bunch of “manifesting” -- whatever that means.

I’m sure your snapchat groups have been fired up about a new decade -- guessing who will be married with kids, promoted to a CEO bo$s babe, or dumped 12 times, but blockchain technology also has some possible surprises up it’s sleeve for 2020.

If blockchain was a baseball game, we’re probably only in the second MAYBE third inning. We have soooooo long to go.

That being said, I do believe 2020 is going to be a pivotal year for blockchain technology.

Here are my three of my top 2020 predictions of blockchain:

1.     Blockchain and Bitcoin will officially BREAK UP.

I would say 52% of the time I tell someone I study blockchain; they have no idea what I’m talking about until I mention Bitcoin. STILL! While more and more people have become aware that Bitcoin is just an application of blockchain technology, I think this year will cause a major separation. We’re really going to see blockchain technology takeoff in ways that don’t involve crypto. Cue, “it’s not me, it’s you.”

2.     Facebook’s Libra will launch… kinda.

The much-anticipated Facebook payment network that not only received a ton of press, but also a lot of resistance, has continued to develop in the wings. Apparently, the expectation is that Libra will launch, but with very limited scope and functionality. Sorta like when a artist launches an EP, not a whole album.

3.     Ethereum will take center stage.

Until now, Ethereum has been like Cady Heron. Move over Regina George, Ethereum is about to be the new head plastic.  Ethereum 2.0 is coming in HOT. With the rollout of the Istanbul hard fork, which included six Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs), we can expect Ethereum to be heading towards 2.0 levels of scalability in the New Year.
